Sealing elements are designed to protect places exposed to temporary effects of moisture and water, such as: the floor and walls near the shower cubicle, washbasin and bathtub. They are used together with the IZOLANIT foil by Pigment to protect joints against water and moisture penetration, to seal critical places in rooms with pressure-free water flowing, such as bathrooms, shower cabins, kitchens, etc. They provide flexible and watertight protection of corners, e.g. at the contact point. two walls, walls with a floor, in corners, at drain grates, edges of installation pipes. The tapes can also be used to insulate terraces and balconies. They are necessary in the case of substrates sensitive to moisture, made of gypsum mass, blocks or plasterboards.
The sealing tape is available in gray, 120 mm wide (elastomeric middle strip - 70 mm) and 0.6 mm thick, in rolls of 10 m and 50 m.
Additional elements are also available:
- external and internal corner - for sealing external and internal corners,
- wall cuff 120 x 120 mm - to seal the pipe passage in the wall under the ceramic cladding,
- floor cuff 425 x 425 mm - to seal the floor drain grate under the ceramic cladding.
Sealing tapes (corners, cuffs) are made of a thermoplastic elastomer (middle layer) applied to a polyester knit with high tear resistance. They are watertight, resistant to temperatures from -30ºC to + 90ºC, resistant to many chemicals (including dilute acids: hydrochloric, sulfuric, citric, lactic, soda lye, sea water), easy to lay, transverse deformation (50% at 1.27 N / mm) and show very good adhesion to most sealants, which facilitates assembly and even laying.
SURFACE PREPARATION AND APPLICATION:
The substrate intended for the waterproofing system should be load-bearing, stable and free of dust, dirt, salt efflorescence and poorly adhering fragments, residues of old paints, oils and other substances that may weaken the adhesion of the IZOLANIT foil by Pigment. Scratches, cracks and cavities should be mechanically widened and filled with cement mortar. The surface of the wall should be leveled with plastering mortar, floors - with a suitable mortar for the floors. It is recommended to prime particularly absorbent surfaces with the SIL-GRUNT primer by Pigment. IZOLANIT sealing mass by Pigment can be applied to completely dry surfaces. Freshly made surfaces, e.g. plaster or floors, can be sealed after they are completely dry, not earlier than after: gypsum, anhydrite - 14 days, cement - 28 days from the time of laying. The first elements to be attached are the inside and outside corners. For this purpose, apply the IZOLANIT sealant by Pigment with a smooth steel trowel or a stiff brush to the substrate in the corners of the room, on the edges of the wall-floor connections and with adjacent walls. Then melt into the freshly spread layer of mass, perforated side stripes of corners and sealing tapes. We act in a similar way in the case of sealing the penetrations of plumbing pipes and drain grates. We use wall and floor cuffs to insulate such places. Then we paste the tapes.
A detailed description of the use is contained in the "Instructions for the use of sealing tapes, corners and cuffs in the IZOLANIT waterproofing system by Pigment, which should be read before starting work.
